The Interviewees:
BVIEER's Director, Dr Erach Bharucha, has been active in the conservation movement in India for forty years. He is a wildlife photographer, and author of the textbook 'Environmental Studies for Undergraduate Courses', in use in Higher Education throughout India, and 'Wonders of the Indian Wilderness' a three-volume overview of biological diversity in India, containing over 2000 of his pictures. Interviews with him on the video focus on the role of education in the environment, the tradition of sacred groves and his very personal approach to the appreciation of nature.
Shamita Kumar, Deputy Director BVIEER, talks about the role of women in environmental action.
The schoolchildren composed and read their poems about nature in English and Marathi at the concert. In addition brief interviews with each of them provide the next generation's perspective on the need for action.
